August 11-14 Nationals - Mark ran a 17.0 in his qualifying time trials on Thursday,
but did not qualify to move on to the Friday/Saturday finals.
August 7 - During the 1st lap of his time trials, the
shock broke which sent Mark spinning in turn one. The tail of the car slammed into the wall, smashing the fuel tank. Mark
was also unable to finish his heat race due to a wing adjustment malfunction. It was just one of those nights.
July
31 - Mark ran his best time trials of the 2004 racing year with a 16.7 qualifying time. He ran 8th of 10 in his heat race.
He was running in the middle of the pack in the 20-car B Feature when he was forced to pull in due to mechanical problems.

23/24 - Annual Knoxville Summer Classic - We had a very exciting Friday night at the races. Mark achieved his goal for the
year by qualifying for the A main feature. Mark finished 4th of 8 in his qualifying heat race. He ran an awesome race with
a straight-way lead on the cars behind him. He finished 20 of 24 in the A feature. The Saturday night race was rained out.
July
17 - Mark ran a 17.2 in his time trials; 9th of 9 in his heat race, and CRASHED in his feature race. About half way through
the race, Mark tagged the wall with the rear of the car and went flying and flipping 5 or 6 times before coming to a rest
on his side. He escaped without a scratch...praise the Lord! See pictures under the Crashes/Photos web page.
July
10 - Mark ran a 17.5 in his time trials; 9th of 9 in his heat race, and 13th of 18 in the B Feature.
The races were rained
out the previous week, July 3rd.
On Sunday, June 27th, Mark and Josh visited hospitalized children in Des Moines, Iowa.
We met some incredible youth. Mark and Josh illustrated racing safety equipment, signed autographed photos, and answered
questions.
June 25 & 26 (World of Outlaws Race) - Mark ran a 17.6 in time trials Friday and finished 7th of 10 in the
C Feature. On Saturday, Mark ran a 17.1 in time trials and finished 4th of 11 in the C Feature.
June 19 - Mark ran
a 17.3 in time trials; ran 8th of 9 in his heat race, and 11th of 12 in the B Feature. The races were rained out the previous
week, June 12.
June 5 - Mark ran a 17.1 in his time trials; 9th of 11 in his heat race, and 10th of 22 in the B Feature.
May
29 - This was an Outlaw Bandit special race night, and sprints did not run time trials. Instead, they ran heat races, a qualifer
race, then the features. Mark ran 9th of 10 in the heat race and last in the qualifer. He scratched in the feature since
the car was not running right. Later, they found that a spark plug wire was disengaged resulting in Mark running on only
7 cylinders.
May 22 - Mark ran a 17.4 in the time trials; 7th of 7 in the heat race, and 9th of 13 in the B Feature.
May
15 - This was a Maytag night at the races, and sprints did not run time trials. For the heat, Mark struggled with the handling
of the car and finished 12th of 12. He ran well in the B Feature finishing 12th of 19.
May 8 - Mark ran 17.0 in
time trials. He started 4th row outside in the 4th heat and finished 7th. For the B feature, Mark started 7th row inside
(13 of 17). Mark passed 3 cars in the 1st lap. He finished 8th... his best finish to date at Knoxville.
May 1st -
World of Outlaws at Knoxville. Mark ran well in the hot laps and time trials, but decided to scratch the "D" feature.
