CRASH @ Knoxville Raceway - July 17, 2004
About half way through the B Feature, Mark
tagged the wall between turns 3 & 4 which sent him flying and flipping about 5 or 6 times before landing on his side. He
escaped without a scratch...praise the Lord!

KNOXVILLE NATIONALS 2003:
Mark ran a 16.295 in his time-trial session. He started first
row outside in his heat race. He was leading the race when the first caution(yellow flag)flew. Unfortunately, the second caution
was a red flag which flew as a result of Mark's crash between turn 1 and 2.
The Knoxville Raceway website at www.knoxvilleraceway.com
described the crash as follows:
"Mark Hurd was the first driver to take a nasty tumble on the night. He bicycled the
car in turn one during the last-chance race, hooked the cushion and rode out a nasty flip."
Mark got checked out in
the ambulance. He suffered only a cut on his hand and reinjured the ankle injured in the 1st flip at 36 Speedway on July 11th.
Once again, we praise the Lord that he was not seriously injured.

CRASH @ 36 SPEEDWAY - 2003
July 11, 2003 - 36 Speedway
The night began with
a smile and potential for a great finish. But, it ended with a big crash and a trip to the ambulance.
Mark ran 4th
fastest @ 10.8 seconds in the time trials (fast time was 10.4 seconds). With that, the excitement mounted and we looked forward
to the feature race.
By the time the feature started, the track was in terrible shape. Turn 1 and 2 held big ruts and
bumps. Prior to Mark's big crash, there were two red flags with flipping cars which had to be towed away.
About midway
through the race going into turn 1 & 2, Car #51 hit a rut and flew up into Mark. The impact threw Mark's car into the air,
spun it around, flipped it a few times, coming to a final rest on its top. They had to get 4 or 5 guys to get the car turned
over, before Mark could get out of the car. Mark got checked out in the ambulance and ended up with a bloody nose and bruised
ankle. The safety equipment did its job. We thank God that no one was seriously injured that night.
